G-Eazy - The Endless Summer
Since I am will be off to New Orleans in a week I will take this opportunity to feature G-Eazy's new mixtape Endless Summer that dropped August 9th. I was a fan right from the beginning as the first track Endless Summer is one of the best on the mixtape, needless to say the entire collection is pretty solid. Also featured is KAM Royal, who attends my college, Tulane University, among many other talented guests (notably Sonny Shotz from the always chill It's The Dean's List). Another noteworthy aspect is that even though I have heard several of these beats used by different rappers, G Eazy still has his unique take on each tune and in the process represents both NOLA and his hometown Oakland. G-Eazy describes it as: "I sampled primarily doo-wop and rock records from the late 50s early 60s on here, to give it a vintage sound, however I wanted to modernize it by mashing it up with hip-hop drums."
